Perathon Film GmbH was founded by the Bavarian filmmaker Joseph Vilsmaier at the end of the 1980s. With films such as Autumn Milk • Rama Dama • Stalingrad • Brother of Sleep • Comedian Harmonists • The story of Brandner Kaspar • Nanga Parbat and many more. Joseph Vilsmaier wrote film history as a director, producer and cinematographer.
In 2017, three years before his death in 2020, he handed Perathon Film over to today's shareholders Ralf Zimmermann, Birgit Rothörl and Josef Brandmaier. Ralf Zimmermann, who initially oversaw a number of Joseph Vilsmaiers films as unit manager, then as production manager and finally as line producer, has been the managing director of Perathon Film since 2017.
In 2019, the producer and screenwriter Ulrich Limmer joined Perathon Film as a partner. Together with Marcus H. Rosenmüller and Bully Herbig, he also wrote the script for Joseph Vilsmaiers last film, The Boandlkramer and Eternal Love. Ralf Zimmermann was back as line producer for this production.
